From PMS to Menopause, women’s “problems” have been “treated” by the medical community the same way – hormone therapy.
That’s it. Think about it. How many women do you know who are on the birth control pill for reasons other than birth control? How many women do you know who are on HRT (or refuse to go on HRT due to the side effects)? How many women do you know who have undergone a hystorectomy?*
For decades, women’s problems have been “dealt with” by the medical community, rather than treated. At Natural Alterntives Herb Shop, you will find out that there are many alternative remedies that will help you start feeling normal again (or maybe for the first time). And our remedies don’t have the harsh side effects that hormones have. In fact, many have side “benefits” (unexpected benefits).

*Now think about this…
How many MEN do you know who are on HRT? How many MEN do you know who have had their testicals removed? Do you know ANY? Something to think about!
Some herbs that may improve women’s health:
It is essential to get to the root cause of hormone problems. The “Four Core Products” are essential for good health, and should be taken (by both men and women) to promote reproductive-system health. Usually one or two additional supplements may be needed.
(these herbs are also found in the section on fertility)
1) Master Gland Formula – A multivitamin supplement designed to nourish the entire glandular system and promote healthy function. Glandular balance is crucial for maintaining good health and fertility. Blood sugar levels, body fluids, digestion, energy, and hormone production are all regulated by various glands. Master Gland Formula contains essential vitamins and minerals, combined with specific herbs which are rich in easily absorbed trace minerals, to supply the glands with nutrients essential for optimum health and fertility.
2) IGF-1– IGF-1 is a natural growth factor found in all animals, including humans. During youth, concentration of IGF-1 is relatively high, which promotes healthy development. After age 25, IGF-1 levels begin to decline. Although there are MANY benefits from IGF-1, regarding fertility, it helps by triggering an increase in T3 thyroid hormone production, improving sperm production, and improving insulin absorption.
3) Indole-3-Carbinol – Studies indicate that I3C is anti-carcinogen and anti-tumor, likely because it promotes healthy metabolism of estrogen. Estrogen is important, but excessive estrogen leads to many problems, including infertility in both men and women (excessive estrogen, known as “estrogen dominance,” is a common problem in men and women, and can lead to illnesses such as endometriosis, PMS, prostate problems, and even breast and prostate cancer).
4) DHEA-F or DHEA-M – DHEA is a hormone produced by the adrenals, and then converted into male and female hormones as needed based on physiology. DHEA declines after age 25, regardless of sex. It especially drops during times of stress, such as extreme or prolonged illness. DHEA appears to produce an overall balancing effect on the body. DHEA can be left out if the client is under 25.
ADDITIONALHERBS THAT HELP PROMOTE OPTIMUM HEALTH:
Wild Yam and Chaste Tree- Chaste Tree (Vitex) is a PMS (Premenstrual Syndrome) and fertility herbal supplement. It is known to stimulate the release of LH and promote Ovulation. It has been known to bring on Ovulation sooner. It may help to restore or regulate periods. It helps to improve chances of conception. Wild Yam contains natural progesterone and may increase the production of progesterone. Wild Yam would be used during the second half of the cycle (the Luteal Phase) when progesterone is important for implantation to occur and to be maintained.
Dong Quai – Dong Quai is used for many gynecological problems. It has been shown to balance estrogen activity and has been used to help with endometriosis and menopausal conditions. It is a blood purifier and it promotes circulation. It is known to restore menstrual regularity. It regulates a weak uterus and regulates hormones and the menstrual cycle.
Female Comfort – Female Comfort is a female corrective formula for enhancing glandular function and normalizing hormone imbalances. Irregularities of the cycle, pain, cramps, and emotional distress are all associated with female glandular dysfunction, and Female Comfort contains herbs that nourish the glands to promote healthy function. They also soothe stressed nerves, relax muscle spasms, and relieve anxiety and pain that accompany muscular and nervous tension.
Maca – Maca does not contain hormones, as many other supplements do, but it does help the body produce a natural balance of its own hormones. Maca promotes the production of LH (Luteinizing Hormone). LH causes ovulation. Maca has been shown to increase chances of conception. Maca may help with menstrual irregularities, hormonal imbalances, menopause and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. It has shown to increase energy and stamina.
Red Raspberry – This herb is used as a uterine tonic. It is called the “women’s herb,” and helps nourish and tone the uterus. The more toned a uterus is the more likely that it will be able to carry a fetus to term. Furthermore, the more toned the uterus, the more productive labor will be when that time comes. Very safe to take during pregnancy.
Pro-G-Yam 500 Cream – A formulated bio-identical progesterone cream. Useful if progesterone, estrogen, or testosterone levels are low.
